What is TechScore?
TechScore is FREE software licensed under the GPL license. TechScore is a cross-platform, sailing regatta scoring application. TechScore is Java-based software. Currently, TechScore uses ICSA sailing rules, and can be extended to include other sailing rules. The program handles rotations, penalties, breakdowns, team penalties, RP information, combined division scoring with up to 26 different divisions, and more!
What's new in version 1.5
We have addressed issues that impeded some users from saving the regattas to file. We also fixed an error with the display of the rotation and the scores.

What's new in version 1.5?
Version 1.5 is a stepping stone release. It offers some minor bug fixes related to entering penalties. In addition, it provides some skeleton for a contextual Help pane. "Contextual" refers to a help pane which changes depending on which editing pane the user is currently working on.
TechScore is a venture born out of a partnership at MIT Sailing to bring college sailing to the twenty-first century. Actively developed, TechScore aims at being user-friendly and reliable. Some of the featues as of the latest release include:
- Multi-day regattas with daily summaries
- Low-point scoring system with penalties and breakdowns
- Average-score or assigned-score breakdowns
- Team penalties
- ICSA tie-breaking procedure
- Full rotation facilities
- Sails with both numbers and text
- Entering finishes using rotations or team names
- Record of Participation information
- RP sailor database can be created or loaded with file
- Scores and rotations can be saved to HTML file format for printing/viewing in a browser
- Fast keyboard navigation
- Compatibility with College Sailing regatta formats
How can I contribute?
There are several ways to get involved with this project. Feature requests are a great way to let the developers know what's missing.
Contribute your experiences as a user in the user forums. Although TechScore is targeted to multiple operating systems, most development occurs on a Linux environment. Experiences from users of other operating systems offers perspective that is otherwise out of reach from the development team.
If you're a programmer and would like to help write some code for TechScore, check out the Mercurial repository and start developing.
Of course, you can always contribute by making a monetary donation. Any amount raised helps support this FREE project and helps college sailing across the United States and Canada.
